ikTok slowly embraces longer and longer videos. In the beginning, its creators had to stick to a 15-second format; now, as the media giant confirms, its users will be able to create and upload videos up to 10 minutes long. After some time, the limits will be pushed to all the creators in the world.
What’s wrong with shorter content that brought TikTok to its fame? The major problem is the inability to insert ads. It’s okay to start an hour-long video on YouTube with two 10-second ads but doing this to a 15-second reel kills all the fun. Longer videos can host inserted ads easier, both technically and psychologically.
So far, only select users have received the ability to upload 10-minute videos. But later, it should be rolled out to all TikTokers. For creating these videos, one can use CapCut or any third-party video editor, though the native one seems the most logical option. Don’t care about ads: they will be inserted automatically.
It doesn’t mean that TikTok no more relies on short videos. Even a 15-second reel can be great entertainment, especially if it follows the original pattern of TikTok and emanates pure emotion through, say, music and dance. But 10-minute videos are capable of much more. It’s long enough for a short movie, which can attract a new wave of creators. And one of the largest media platforms in the world surely has an audience that will appreciate these videos. For better targeting, creators can use insights and other marketing tools that TikTok provides for free.
