oday, Zoom revealed that the German Federal Office for Information Security has awarded its Zoom Meeting Software v5.6.6 a level 2 common criteria evaluation assurance. This accreditation further validates Zoom's commitment to security.

The Common Criteria is a globally accepted standard used to evaluate an IT product to determine if it's up to par with the accepted security standards. The evaluation entails examining certain security criteria, such as design, guidance documents, testing, life cycle elements, and assessment of its vulnerability. The BSI audited the Zoom Meeting Software v5.6.6 using the Common Criteria and discovered that The methods of assessment, specification, and execution were all thorough and up to standard.

Customers are increasingly demanding IT companies provide trustworthy and verifiable proof of their products’ security capabilities. In a recent statement, Jason Lee who is the chief information security officer at Zoom expressed his pleasure in the fact that Zoom has obtained the common criteria accreditation which also makes it the first video conferencing platform to do so. He also stated that privacy and security are crucial to the organization, which encourages them to offer various solutions to their consumers, as seen by the accreditation. 

The Common Criteria accreditation is applicable to the Zoom software version 5.6.6 on all the platforms on which it runs.  Despite the fact that the software version available at the time of the accreditation is v5.6.6, Zoom recommends its customers use the most up-to-date version of the software to get the full benefits of new security upgrades and other new features.
